DURATION 2 hrs
The training session will raise awareness of the importance of daily mouth care as well as practical advice for those people that are dependent or need assistance in oral care techniques. It will provide carers with the knowledge and ability to plan and deliver daily mouth care within care homes and domiciliary care. Our training is bespoke to each care homes requirements.
On successful completion of this course participants will be able to:
Have a better understanding of how to assist residents with basic daily oral hygiene procedures and denture care
Have a better understanding of the mouth to include tooth anatomy and dental disease and recognise abnormalities
Recognize the need for specialized mouth care and supporting people who require assistance
Be able to outline the NICE Guidelines and Quality Standards and what this means for you so that you are better prepared for CQC
Carry out Mouth Care Assessments for residents in care homes
Create oral care plans for all residents
Outline the potential effects of poor oral health on an individual's general health and well-being
Oral care and dementia. Coping strategies for residents with challenging behaviour towards mouth care
Provide Daily Mouth Care for dependent and medically compromised residents
Nil by mouth
Design and implement Mouth Care Policy in accordance with NICE Guidelines and CQC recommendations
Provide guidance to and support care staff team with providing Daily Mouth Care in residential and nursing home
