OUTLINE OF THE DAY
THE AIM OF THE ORAL CARE TRAINING IS TO HELP CARERS AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS' CONFIDENCE IN DELIVERING DAILY ORAL CARE TO RESIDENTS WITHIN LEARNING DISABILITIES.
A clean, healthy mouth is fundamental to everybody’s quality of life. Oral diseases and conditions are not only painful and distressing, they have an impact on a person’s ability to eat and speak, and are increasingly linked to a number of other health problems, some of which are serious. People with learning disabilities are at higher risk of oral health problems.
This manual is designed to give straight forward information in simple terms. It has purposely not been made to be too complex and comprehensive. It is to give you an outline for the information that the mentor will cover in the course of the day.
You will be given a short assessment for your mentor to gain your level of background knowledge of oral health information.
